Content: The physicians are not aware of the recent FDA changes.
From our own case, we discovered that the physician who prescribed the Procrit was uneducated as to the recent FDA changes, the recent FDA Black Box Warning changes, and had no clue about the causal relationship of the drug to the blood clots and death. That leads us to conclude that many more physicians out there, that this is not an isolated incident. What we're likely going to find is that physicians number 1, as so stated in our case, aren't handing the patient the medication guides, still look at this as a viable safe option when someone has lost blood as an alternative to blood transfusion and that these physicians just simply are blindly giving out this dangerous drug leading to clotting and not familiar with the necessary follow up and protocols for Anticoagulation Therapy.
